Materials and ways of making have evolved with place, circumstance, and time, while the knowledge behind them continues to be carried forward. AṂSA brings these traditions into conversation with contemporary silhouettes and the way we dress today.

We believe craft is why luxury exists.

Each garment begins with its material and how it is made. We work closely with artisans, with their knowledge and techniques informing the design from the beginning. The material, the hand, and the process are integral to the garment itself, remaining present in the finished piece.

Wherever possible, AṂSA works with natural fibers, extending this consideration from the primary textile to linings and internal construction. But craft exists within the realities of the present. Fibers change with availability, demand, and the communities that continue to work with them; traditions once practiced in one medium may now be sustained through another. We work with each craft as it exists today, understanding what has changed, why, and what remains.

Often, the origins, people, and hands behind an object disappear in its final form. AṂSA seeks to keep them present, recognizing the knowledge and labour behind a garment as part of what gives it meaning and value. Craft has evolved, adapted, and found new forms across generations. AṂSA is an effort to carry Indian artisanal knowledge forward without losing its connection to the places, people, and processes that shaped it.
